Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mirpur Division has arrested 6 people on charges of extortion and fraud in Mirpur of the capital.

The arrested accused are Mohsin Munsi, Mazaharul Islam, Rezaul Karim, Taiyab, Humayun Kabir and Noor Mohammad alias Natu. 1 symbol-like gas light and an iron chest with Tk 57 lakh 50 thousand were seized from their custody.

He said, Harunur Rashid Bhuya (60), a resident of Dhanmondi, purchased the 2nd, 3rd and 8th floors of a 10-storey building under construction at Dhanmondi Road 4/A from a real estate company named Nafco Developer Company Limited at a price of 3 crore 75 lakhs based on a deed of 3 million takas. Earnest for. Later he paid Tk 1 crore 23 lakh at various times.
Later, DMD and MD of Nafco Developer Company told the victim on mobile phone that after October 8 evening, he will register in his office at Basa No-9/2, Block-B, Section-6, Road No-5, Mirpur and to bring the due amount for registration. Then the plaintiff asked DMD Faisal Sheikh to pay the due amount through pay order and he requested him to bring cash.
In view of the request of MD and DMD, the victim along with his family members went to the office of Nafco Developer Company with cash of 72 lakhs and 80 thousand in two bags. While they were talking in the office of DMD Faisal Sheikh of the institution, suddenly 20-25 unidentified masked youths threatened to shoot the victim with a pistol-like object and took away Tk 32 lakh 80 thousand and locked him in the next room.
Later, the unidentified persons beat up the victim's wife, son, daughter and the driver who were waiting in the parking lot with the remaining money and took another 40 lakhs from them.
Besides, 1 heavy weight gold chain around the neck of the victim's wife took away 5 mobile phones used by the family members. Later, the victim's wife, son, daughter and driver were locked in a room adjacent to DMD Faisal Sheikh's office and locked from outside. They came out of the room when an unknown person opened the door to their screams. On hearing their screams, the people nearby came running and when the matter was reported to the Mirpur police station, the police went to the spot and rescued them.
Later, raids were conducted in different places of the capital and the criminals were arrested and cash of Tk 57 lakh 50 thousand and other evidences were recovered from them.
DC Makshuder Rahman said that the interrogation of the arrested accused revealed that the MD of the real estate company is also involved. They have done this before. Our operation is continuing to arrest others involved and recover the remaining money.
