Tens of thousands of people of the two unions are not at the end of their suffering for a paved road in Madaripur's Dasar. The brick roads along with the unpaved roads were built two centuries ago. As it is currently impassable, pedestrians including school-college students face extreme hardships on rainy days. Minor accidents occur due to ditches and potholes.
Residents complain that the matter has been repeatedly reported to the authorities but no light has been seen on the road for a long time. Delorbazar-Darshan road of Dasar upazila of Madaripur. The two kilometer section of the road from Maijpara to Badamtala Bridge is in very poor condition. Brick soling along the unpaved road has also created trenches. Even a little rain increases the suffering of the commuters. School-college students are in a dilemma. Besides, the patients also became sicker while moving.
Residents complain that thousands of people from Kajivakai and Dasar Union travel daily through Delorbazar-Darshana road. Even though the concerned department has been informed several times for the construction of paved roads, no action has been taken. As a result, accidents often occur on the road. Pedestrians and locals are angry.
Shahadat Akon, a local resident, said that the road leading to Darshan is 5 kilometers from Delorbazar in Kajivakai Union. Two kilometers of this are dangerous. Repeated assurances have been given to repair the road, but nothing has been done. If a paved road is constructed on an urgent basis, everyone in the area will benefit.
Priyanka Akhter, a school going student, said that it is not possible to walk on the road. Accidents often happen on rainy days. Even the local representatives said there was no solution, LGED only gave repeated assurances. We all want a new paved road, it is our life's demand.
Ajed Bepari, UP Member of Ward No. 2 of Kajivakai Union in Dasar, said this is an important road. Thousands of people travel through the road every day. Even a van cannot move, pedestrians suffer. One of the reasons for this is that the road is potholed at various places. Somewhere there are big holes. In such a situation, a paved road needs to be constructed as soon as possible to avoid accidents.
However, LGED executive engineer Badal Chandra Kirtania has assured the construction of paved roads soon to reduce public suffering. He said, along with the upazila engineer, the road will be inspected on site and action will be taken quickly. So that the people of the area can move through the road peacefully.
