A day after he went missing in the Brahmaputra branch river in Kurigram's Roumari, the fire service personnel recovered the body of the youth.


On Monday (September 16) afternoon, the fire service personnel recovered the body from Fanar Char area of ​​Roumari upazila. Before this, the disappearance happened while bathing in the river on Sunday afternoon.


Deceased Shaha Alam (18) is the son of Rahmat Ali of Sakhipur area of ​​Gazipur, Dhaka. Shaha Alam and his cousin Sajib along with Nana Bari came to visit Roumari's Khanar Char Paschim Para.


Locals said that the deceased Shaha Alam and his cousin went to bathe in the Holhalia river near the house on Sunday. Later Sajib was rescued alive when the two drowned in the river but Shah Alam was never found. After receiving the information, Roumari and Jamalpur fire service personnel conducted a rescue operation and managed to recover Shah Alam's body on Monday afternoon.


Abdul Alim, the leader of Roumari Fire Service, confirmed the truth of the incident and said, "We have been searching for the missing youth in the river since yesterday and managed to recover the body today." The body was later handed over to the family.
