After 29 days of burial, the administration took the body of martyr Sabbir Hossain Russell for autopsy.

The body of martyr Sabbir Hossain Russell, who was shot dead by Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists during the anti-discrimination student movement in Lakshmipur, has been exhumed from the grave. The administration exhumed his body 29 days after burial for a post-mortem on the orders of the court in the interest of investigating the case.
At that time, Sabbir's mother, Maya Begum, along with the relatives, became heavy with the cries of the whole area. His father Amir Hossain was standing silently in mourning. Maya Begum repeatedly tried to see her son's face, but did not get a chance.
Sabbir's body was exhumed from the Monir Uddin Patwari Jame Masjid graveyard located along the Laxmipur-Ramgatti road in Samserabad area of Laxmipur at around 10:30 am on Wednesday (September 4). Later, the body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
At that time, the Executive Magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Mojibur Rahman, and the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police, Sadar Model Police Station, Mobarak Hossain were present. After the autopsy, the body will be reburied under their supervision.
According to the police, Sabbir was shot dead during the protest on August 4. After that, the relatives buried the body without an autopsy. On August 14, Sabbir's father Amir Hossain filed a murder case at the Sadar Model Police Station naming 91 people and accusing 200 unknown people as the plaintiff. AKM Salah Uddin Tipu, former chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad and former president of District Jubo League, was made the main accused. The case was presented to the court on August 15. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Amli Region Sadar Court Judge Abu Noman ordered Sabbir's body to be exhumed for post-mortem. According to the order of the court, the body was exhumed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Mojibur Rahman on the orders of Deputy Commissioner Suraiya Jahan.
Sadar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mobarak Hossain said Sabbir's body has been exhumed for post-mortem for the purpose of investigating the case. Re-burial will be done after the post-mortem.
Incidentally, the deceased Sabbir was the son of Amir Hossain of Sharifpur village in Bhabaniganj Union of Sadar Upazila and a student of Dalal Bazar Degree College. On August 4, 4 students including Sabbir were shot dead in Lakshmipur's Madam Bridge and Tamiz Market area. On that day, hundreds of students were injured in the firing by Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists.
