The first day of the new year has been covered in a thick blanket of fog. A cold, icy wind is blowing with the blanket of fog. The temperature was recorded at 9 am on Wednesday at 11.6 degrees Celsius.
Jitendranath, officer-in-charge of the district's first-class Tentulia Meteorological Observatory, said that the temperature recorded at 9 am on Wednesday was 11.6 degrees Celsius. That matches the temperature record for the first day of the new year with the outgoing year. On Tuesday, 10.9 degrees Celsius was recorded on the last day of the year.
Although there is no cold wave, strong gusts of winter are blowing in the air. People in the marginal villages of Panchagarh district in the north have started shivering due to the intensity of winter again. Daily laborers, van drivers and stone workers among various professions said that our area has been covered in thick fog for two days again. Vehicles on city and village roads are forced to use headlights.
The number of people suffering from various cold-related diseases has increased due to the cold. Every day, patients are receiving treatment in the outpatient departments of district and upazila hospitals for various diseases including fever, cold, diarrhea, and pneumonia.
