Md. Rashed Khan, the Prime Minister's political assistant, has remarked that Sheikh Hasina will never be able to return to Bangladesh, no matter how many Decembers pass. He asserts that the Awami League has reached such a state—both politically and morally—that there is no possibility of the party's top leadership returning to the country.

On Friday morning (October 9), Rashed Khan spoke to journalists after visiting the grave of Mehedi Hasan Rabbi—the senior joint convener of the Magura district Chhatra Dal who was killed during the July-August mass uprising—in the Parananduali area of Magura town.

Addressing the ongoing discussions on social media regarding Sheikh Hasina's potential return, he stated, "Countless Decembers will come and go, but Sheikh Hasina will not return to Bangladesh." This represents Rashed Khan's political assessment rather than confirmed information regarding her future return.

Harsh remarks on the Awami League

Rashed Khan claimed that the Awami League has suffered a "total moral defeat and political collapse." Pointing to the fact that the party's top leaders are currently staying in India, he criticized the Awami League's current political standing.

He further stated that he does not consider the expectation of Sheikh Hasina returning to face punishment to be realistic. He also made harsh comments regarding her burial in Bangladesh following her death. These statements reflect Rashed Khan's personal political views.

The previous day, Rashed Khan had made similar remarks in Jhenaidah regarding the possibility of Sheikh Hasina's return. There, too, he referred to the speculation surrounding December and asserted that she would not come back to the country.

Leaders and activists from the local BNP, Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, and various other affiliated and associate organizations were present at the program in Magura.
