A three-day mosquito eradication drive has been launched in Bongaon Union, Savar, to prevent dengue and reduce the mosquito menace. Organized under the slogan "Drive Away Mosquitoes, Save the Area," the initiative was spearheaded by Abdullah Abul Khair, the Organizing Secretary of Savar Thana BNP and a candidate for the Bongaon Union Chairman post.
The program was officially inaugurated in Bongaon Union on Thursday afternoon. Measures have been taken to spray insecticide in various areas to curb mosquito proliferation while simultaneously raising awareness among local residents about dengue.
On the inaugural day, leaflets containing dengue prevention awareness messages were distributed among the general public across various neighborhoods of the union. Concurrently, mosquito-killing insecticides were sprayed on roads, drains, and in thickets using fogging machines.
The organizers stated that the three-day program includes plans to conduct mosquito eradication and public awareness activities in every ward and neighborhood of Bongaon Union.
While inaugurating the program, Abdullah Abul Khair remarked that this voluntary initiative was undertaken to protect local residents from the escalating risk of dengue.
He noted that preventing dengue is not possible solely through spraying insecticide; keeping home premises clean, preventing water stagnation, and raising public awareness are equally crucial.
Abul Khair further mentioned that the drive would continue across various parts of the union for the next three days. He also emphasized the importance of fostering long-term awareness regarding dengue prevention.
He called upon local youth and the younger generation, alongside leaders and activists from the BNP and its affiliated organizations, to unite and participate in such public welfare activities.
