Unbeaten Spain or stunning England. Who will win the title of European football excellence? Although the fight is between these two European teams, the entire football world is busy settling this calculation. However, there is no calculation, England's coach Gareth Southgate sees Spain as the favorite in the finals.
Next Sunday night at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Spain, the three-time champion of the European Championship, will take on the runner-up England in the last game. Fuente's students have proved their ability in the entire tournament of this season. They have made themselves worthy contenders for the title. Because of which the English coach thinks that the Spanish are the favourites, they are the favorites in the final for what they (Spain) have done in this tournament. They are getting an extra day to prepare themselves. Also, about their second consecutive final, the English coach said, 'Tactically we have to be perfect. Where we have problems, we have to find them.
On the other hand, the Spanish have won the title three times in this tournament. Due to which Spain coach Luis de la Fuente sees himself as favorite like England coach. Also, the Spanish coach is not taking England lightly. He said, "Before the start of this tournament, apart from England, France, Germany was also a favorite due to playing in their own field. We had the opportunity to topple these favorites (except England) and we did. Now we have another big match ahead of us.
Fuente also believes that England can shine at any level. Due to which they have to be careful, he said. He said about this, 'maybe, Spain will play better football than England in the final. But the fight is now a single match, so nothing from the past will have any effect. England have quality players who can shine at any moment. The fight will be tough.' He also said about his team Spain, 'We are looking forward to this final. We want to maintain our continuity.
Earlier in 1996, England and Spain met for the first time in the quarter-finals of the Euro knockout stage. The English confirmed the semi-finals by defeating the Spanish in a tiebreaker at Sebar Wembley. Then in 2018, these two teams met in the last UEFA Nations League. England defeated Spain at the service. All that is in the past now though. It can be seen from the recent performances of these two teams that the English will have to give a tough test to beat this Spanish team. But the English will be desperate to taste the Euro victory for the first time in their history.
