Major League Soccer team Inter Miami escaped the fear of defeat in the first match of the year. This pre-season match against Mexican Club America in Las Vegas on Sunday ended in a 2-2 draw. However, Miami eventually won 3-2 on a tiebreaker.

Henry Martin's goal gave America the lead in the 31st minute of the match. But within three minutes, Lionel Messi equalized the goal, heading in from a Luis Suarez cross. A heated situation then ensued.

After Messi's historic goal against Mexico in the World Cup, the anger of the fans of the then opposing country against him has not yet faded. Like in that match, instead of raising his hands in the air after Messi's goal and remembering his late grandmother, he was immersed in a new celebration today. Messi reached the sidelines after the goal, first turning around and showing his name, then three fingers and a zero. Although the exact reason for this is still unknown, it is believed that he revealed the number of World Cup victories Argentina has won and the zero symbolized Mexico's 0-2 defeat.

The celebration caused a stir on social media. However, Messi's match ended in the 66th minute, when Miami was trailing 1-2. Later, a goal by Tomas Aviles in added time brought the match to a 2-2 tie and Miami won 3-2 on penalties.

Javier Mascherano's team will start the new season with the CONCACAF Champions Cup next month. They will play four more friendly matches before that.
