West Bengal's Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh has alleged that a section of Bangladesh is playing a role in the ongoing protests demanding the removal of India's Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the cancellation of the voter list revision process. The BJP leader also alleged that the protests are receiving foreign funding.

According to reports, Ghosh made these remarks while speaking to journalists at a Durga Puja event in Habra, North 24 Parganas.
He claimed that one need only look at the Facebook posts of Bangladeshi ministers to understand who is behind the protests. He further alleged that the protesters have become active at the behest of foreign forces attempting to destabilize India.

Citing the issue of foreign funding, Ghosh stated that the central government is introducing a bill related to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) to regulate funds coming from abroad. He alleged that the protests are being used to obstruct this initiative.
Meanwhile, Ghosh criticized opposition parties—including the Trinamool Congress—for supporting the protests. He remarked that political parties which have lost public support are attempting to maintain their standing by capitalizing on the agitations of others.

However, no independently verifiable evidence has been found to substantiate his allegations regarding the involvement of Bangladesh or foreign funding in the protests.
It is worth noting that protests are underway in Delhi and other locations over the controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of India's voter list. While protesters are demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commission has denied allegations of bias.
