There will be no Games 'Village' in the next Asiad!

The host country of Asian Games-2026 is Japan. Thousands of athletes from 45 countries will participate in it. However, this time the country has decided not to build a games village to accommodate players, coaches, support staff, officials from different countries. They are going to make alternative arrangements to accommodate the players.

Tsunekazu Takeda told the meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia about organizing the innovative Asian Games.

The former president of the Japan Olympic Committee said that they will not build a 'village' for the Asian Games. Because, most of the times, the multi-storeys made for various games are left abandoned. So this time an alternative arrangement has been planned.

Takeda said the same arrangement for match officials and officials as for the players will also be in place at the upcoming Asian Games.

What is that arrangement?

Accommodation of players, coaches, officials from different countries will be arranged in the hotels of the two host cities, Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture. There will also be some luxury ships (cruises).

He said, we are not building any games village. Games will be held in two cities. Instead we are accommodating everyone in various hotels and cruises. The cruises will accommodate 4,000 people. Apart from players, coaches, support staff, officials, match officials will have the same system.

However, most of the members of the Olympic Council of Asia could not accept this proposal of Japan. According to them, this system will destroy the spirit of the Games.

Randhir Singh, the newly appointed president of the Olympic Council of Asia, did not directly oppose but did not hide his displeasure.

He said that a village should be built in a specific place. It is also important to keep the young generation of different countries together. Village life is one of the most important parts of such games.

But the number of players in the Asian Games is increasing every year. The Olympic Council of Asia wants to control this number from the next Games.

Randhir said that 32 countries participated in football in the last games. From now on, the first eight teams will get a chance. No more than two people from a country can be represented in individual events.
