BNP pledges to build ‘Rainbow Nation’, says Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that if BNP comes to power, a ‘Rainbow Nation’ will be built by including all ethnic groups. That is, a Bangladesh where every community can be proud of their rights, culture and heritage and will be able to contribute to the development of the country.
He said this at a program organized on Friday afternoon at the Banani Vidya Niket School and College grounds in the capital on the occasion of the ‘Dhaka Wangala Festival-2025’ of the small ethnic Garo community. The program was organized by the ‘Dhaka Wangala Committee’.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The 31-point declaration made by our party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman in 2022 clearly states that we will create a Rainbow Nation. That is, a state system where all communities will be included and everyone will be able to contribute. If BNP comes to power in the future, your problems will be considered very seriously.”
He also said that the “Vision 2030” announced by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia includes a plan to form a separate department to preserve the culture and heritage of the small ethnic groups of the plains and solve their problems. In addition, initiatives will be taken to form a separate cultural academy for small ethnic groups in Dhaka. In addition, the issue of officially celebrating the traditional ‘Wangala Festival’ of the Garos will be seriously considered.
The BNP Secretary General said, “Our main political trend—Bangladeshi nationalism—includes not only Bengalis but every citizen of Bangladesh. Martyred President Ziaur Rahman was the first to establish this idea. He wanted every ethnic group in the country to feel proud of themselves as Bangladeshis.”
He further added, “BNP’s responsibility is to unite all communities and ensure their economic development. At the same time, we should ensure that their own culture and heritage survive.”
Members of the Garo community performed traditional dances and songs at the event. Members of various small ethnic groups living in Dhaka participated in the festive atmosphere.
Through Mirza Fakhrul’s speech, the BNP once again indicated that it wants to build a multidimensional and inclusive Bangladesh in the future, where unity and cooperation will be the basis of national strength, not differences in race, religion and culture.
