In Savar, notorious drug dealer Shamim Reza has been accused of framing Jubo Dal activist Hridoy Hossain in a false drug case due to past enmity. The victim's family held a press conference protesting the incident and demanding Hridoy's unconditional release.
At the press conference, Hridoy Hossain's family alleged that Hridoy was systematically called from the Savar bus stand area and implicated in a fabricated drug case. They claim that Shamim Reza hatched such a conspiracy due to past enmity.
Hridoy's friend Alamgir, who was present at the time of the incident, said that RAB members conducted a raid while Shamim was in his garage in the Rajasan Garage area. At that time, they did not find any drugs with them, but heroin was recovered from a box nearby. Although the three were later released, Hridoy was detained. Alamgir alleged that they were pressured to testify against Hridoy, but they refused.
At the press conference, Hridoy's relatives demanded his immediate unconditional release and legal action against the real culprits through a fair investigation of the incident.
Hridoy's wife Umme Habiba, mother Minara Begum, and his friends Alamgir Hossain and Nazim Uddin spoke at the time.
