Awami League publicity secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap arrested

Awami League campaign secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap has been arrested from Nakhalpara in the capital. The Intelligence Department (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police announced that he was arrested shortly before 3:00 PM on Sunday.

The OC of Tejgaon police station confirmed the matter. Mubarak Hossain said that Abdus Sobhan Golap has been brought. He is being interrogated. Necessary action will be taken after the inquiry.

When Sheikh Hasina returned to the country on May 17, 1981, Golap came in contact with her. He was the special assistant of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After the 2001 national election, she visited various districts for overall evaluation and analysis of the election on the instructions of Sheikh Hasina and gave a report.

In 2018, he was elected as a Member of Parliament on the nomination of Awami League from Madaripur-3 Constituency in the 11th National Parliament Election. In 2016, he took over the office of secretary of Awami League. Later he was given the responsibility of publicity and publication editor. He was defeated by independent candidate Tahmina Begum in the last 12th National Assembly elections.
