The new SB chief is DIG Shah Alam

DIG of Bangladesh Railway Police. Shah Alam has been assigned as the new chief of Special Branch (SB) of Police as Additional Inspector General of Police (on duty).
He is the current Chief Additional IGP of SB. Monirul will replace Islam.
On Tuesday (August 13) by the order of the President, Deputy Secretary of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This appointment was made in a notification signed by Sheikh Mahabur Rahman.

Additional IGP of the special branch of the police said in the same notification. Monirul Islam has been attached to the Directorate of Police as Additional Inspector General of Police.
Md. Shah Alam joined Bangladesh Police as Assistant Superintendent of Police on 20 January 1991 through 12th BCS.
He is widely discussed and appreciated for his extensive contribution to the application of computer technology in the police. While serving as AIG (ICT) of Police Headquarters and Superintendent of Police, Thakurgaon District in 2009-11, he developed the Crime Data Management System or CDMS software for use in all police stations, courts and other units of the Bangladesh Police, which is being used by all police stations in the country.
Md. Shah Alam created the 'Third Eye' for Special Branches and District Special Branches in 1999-2002. From 1999 to November 2009, during his 10-year tenure in the Special Branch, he transformed a paper-based office into an IT-based intelligence agency by introducing computer technology to various branches of the Special Branch, including the Immigration Police.
The automation of the special branch is running with the software 'Third-Eye' used by him. In 2003, when he was the Superintendent of Police of Immigration, he created the Oracle-based application software 'Fortrack' to store the records of domestic and foreign passengers. Fourtrack is being used at all air, sea and land port immigration checkpoints in Bangladesh. He developed the Police Information Management System or PIMS in 2012 to store the police's internal administrative records.
He was awarded Bangladesh Police Padak (BPM) Seva Padak in recognition of efficiency, integrity and commendable work.
