The court has granted bail to eleventh class student Alfi Shahriar Mahim in the murder case of Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University (Berobi) who was killed in a clash with the police in Rangpur. Judge Mustafa Kamal of Children's Court-1 gave this bail order after the hearing at 1 pm on Thursday (August 1).
Mahim's lawyer Jobaidul Islam confirmed the matter. He told the media that the case was in the Metropolitan Tajhat Police Station.
The case has been transferred as Mahim is a child. Earlier, August 4 was the day of hearing. But we have applied for fresh hearing today. The court accepted the hearing and granted bail.
This 16-year-old boy was accused in Abu Saeed's murder case. Earlier, the court sent Mahim to jail in the case of murder of Berobi student Abu Saeed. On Wednesday (July 31), Alfie Shahriar's sister Sanjana Akhtar Sneha posted a status on Facebook about her younger brother not being found. After that, the administration was shaken by the incident of arresting the teenage student and sending him to jail.
Prior to this, Alfie's detention remained unknown to all concerned.
Mahim's father Mohammad Shahjalal said, the police commissioner called me. We are assured that Mahim will be released. However, the commissioner tried to talk to the son from the jail. But it was not possible.
Investigating Officer Tajhat Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Zillur Rahman said, "When our Tajhat Police Station was set on fire on July 17, Mahim was picketing. At that time, along with our police, RAB and BGB teams were also present at the scene. At that time he was caught by BGB.
