Bangladesh sets world record for parachuting with the most flags

On the occasion of the Great Victory Day, Bangladesh has set a world record for parachuting with the most national flags. To commemorate the 54th anniversary of independence, 54 paratroopers simultaneously skydived with the flag, which has been included in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest flag-parachuting exhibition.

This historic parachuting was held at around 12 noon on Tuesday (December 16) at the main event of Victory Day at the old Tejgaon Airport in the capital. Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus was present as the chief guest at the event. Apart from this, members of the Advisory Council, chiefs of the three services, political leaders, diplomats from different countries and dignitaries participated in the event.

A total of 54 paratroopers participated in this exceptional skydiving exhibition of 'Team Bangladesh'. Among them, 46 people from the Bangladesh Army, 5 from the Navy, 2 from the Air Force and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud Bin Harun participated. They landed with the national flag in their hands through a free-fall jump from a height of about 12,000 feet.

This exhibition also conveyed a message of humanity and respect. Free-fall jumpers numbered 49 to 54 paid tribute to the six Bangladeshi peacekeepers killed in Sudan by holding their names on their chests. Brigadier General MM Imrul Hasan supervised the entire parachuting program and served as the drop zone commander.

In addition, the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force separately displayed fly-pasts at the Tejgaon Old Airport in this Victory Day event. A special Victory Day band show was also organized as part of the event, which created an atmosphere of great enthusiasm and patriotism among the visitors present.
