Airport fire: Expert teams from four countries are coming to investigate

A team of experts from four countries is coming to investigate the horrific fire at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam said that experts from England, Australia, China and Turkey will look into the cause and responsibility of the fire.

Addressing a press conference after inspecting the cargo village and e-gate damaged in the recent fire at Shahjalal Airport on Saturday (October 25) morning, he said, “I think the airport fire was an accident. Four units of the airport tried to put out the fire quickly. Due to the high level of flammable material, the fire spread quickly and it took time to bring it under control.”

The advisor also said that experts from four countries are being included in the investigation so that the exact cause of the fire and who is responsible can be clearly determined.

Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mustafa Mahmud Siddique and other senior officials were present at the time.

Incidentally, a fire broke out at the cargo village of Shahjalal International Airport at around 2:30 pm on October 18. The fire was brought under control around 9 pm with the help of 37 units of the fire service. The fire was completely extinguished by the next afternoon.
