Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said, "We do not want to enter politics. We want to work within the laws, rules and regulations. Our goal is to provide a free and fair election, where all players can play freely. For this, we want to create a suitable field."
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) handed over the necessary equipment for the voter list update process—laptops, scanners and other equipment—to the Chief Election Commissioner on Sunday. The CEC said these things at a program organized on this occasion.
He also said, "UNDP is historically a development partner of Bangladesh. They met me in December and offered to assist in the electoral process. Today they quickly provided laptops, scanners, cameras, which will help us in our voter list update process. This process is starting from the 20th. We hope that they will cooperate more in the future."
The CEC said, "Their need assessment team is working to support the national elections. We are working to ensure the transparency of the voter list. We are going to the field from tomorrow to clear doubts."
He further added, "We have set a target to complete the work of updating the voter list within six months. Currently, the voter growth rate is 1.55 percent. 65,000 manpower will be deployed for this work. We have taken a big plan so that the activities can be completed within the stipulated time."
Note: The Election Commission is committed to making proper preparations to ensure the smooth organization of the national elections.
