If India sees the liberation war of Bangladesh differently, that is their business, said Shipping Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. Sakhawat Hossain. He said this in response to a question from journalists at the Sylhet Marine Academy parade on Tuesday morning regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's post on Facebook on Victory Day.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a post on the social media platform Facebook on the occasion of the great Victory Day. There he wrote, 'Today is Victory Day, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers who contributed to India's historic victory in 1971. Their selfless dedication and unwavering determination have saved our nation and brought glory. On this day, we pay tribute to their extraordinary heroism and indomitable spirit. Their sacrifice will forever inspire generations and will be deeply inscribed in the history of our nation.’

In that context, the Shipping Advisor said, ‘The Indian Prime Minister said it like he said. But the world knows about it. Today it has been 52 years. This 9-month war is Bangladesh’s war. We have lost our lives. For 9 months, the country was in a state of great bloodshed.’

Dr. Sakhawat Hossain said, ‘We started our war. We finished our war. There was definitely India’s help and cooperation there, there is no doubt about that. We also remember that. But now if they see it differently, that is their business.’

He said, ‘Among the things that have happened in the world, the Liberation War is one of the greatest events in the world.’
