Mirza Abbas is the victim of planned personal attacks by Nasiruddin Patwari: Rashed Khan

Published: 11:22 4 September 2026
Prime Minister's political assistant Rashed Khan has claimed that Nasiruddin Patwari's continuous and planned personal attacks are responsible for the stroke of BNP standing committee member and political advisor to the Prime Minister Mirza Abbas.
He made this claim in a long post on his verified Facebook account on Thursday (September 3) night.
Mirza Abbas is not yet fully recovered
Rashed Khan claims that despite receiving advanced treatment, Mirza Abbas has not yet fully recovered. Recently, while giving a speech in the National Assembly, he became emotional, which stunned everyone present in the parliament.
According to his statement, Mirza Abbas is currently unable to walk normally. He has problems with his gait while walking and his speech sometimes sounds slurred. Rashed Khan also mentioned that he is having a hard time even moving one hand.
Serious allegations against Nasiruddin Patwari
Blaming Nasiruddin Patwari's behavior for Mirza Abbas's physical condition, Rashed Khan said that Mirza Abbas had to endure disrespectful behavior from the much younger Nasiruddin Patwari even before the election.
He claimed that even after the election, Mirza Abbas did not get rid of such mental pressure and oppression. Even when he was seriously ill and undergoing treatment in the hospital, ugly acts were done to him.
According to Rashed Khan, a portrait of Mirza Abbas was made and activities like boxing and hitting it were also done.
Rashed highlights long-term mental stress
Rashed Khan said that while no one can be directly blamed for a common illness, long-term mental stress and oppression can have a serious impact on a person.
He also highlighted various incidents in Mirza Abbas's long political life. He claimed that this veteran leader, who organized Dhaka during the anti-dictatorship uprising of the 1990s and was imprisoned many times later, had to face slander and political harassment at various times.
Accusations of involvement in the Osman Hadi murder
Rashed Khan alleged that Mirza Abbas was baselessly accused of being involved in the Osman Hadi murder. Rashed claimed that he was even subjected to harassment while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to him, these incidents have created long-term mental stress on Mirza Abbas.
‘Stroke after mental anguish’
Rashed Khan claimed that Mirza Abbas finally suffered a stroke after going through a long period of severe mental anguish. According to him, the whole matter cannot be understood if Mirza Abbas’s current physical condition is viewed only as a sudden illness.
However, the report did not mention any medical evidence to establish the behavior of a specific person as a direct cause of the stroke. The matter came as a political statement and allegation by Rashed Khan.
Rashed Khan further claimed that Mirza Abbas is facing today’s situation as a direct result of Nasiruddin Patwari’s planned mental torture.
Meanwhile, Nasiruddin Patwari’s statement on this matter was not immediately available.
