Students will be selected for admission to government schools through lottery. As the lottery process is uncertain, students and parents are apprehensive about getting a good school. Admission through lottery is said to be a means of reducing 'unhealthy competition' but there is a quota system. As this quota system is in place, students and parents are helpless.

As per the published admission policy, 68 percent quota distribution system will be followed for admission in government schools this time as well. Many parents object to this. Especially those who live temporarily in Dhaka for work, they want to cancel this quota system.

According to the admission policy, 40 percent of the total vacant seats are catchment area quota. That is, this quota is for their children who are residents of the surrounding area of the school. Out of the remaining 28 percent, 5 percent is for the children of heroes and martyred freedom fighters. One percent of the children of officials and employees of the Ministry of Education and subordinate agencies, 10 percent of former students of government primary schools, 2 percent of students with special needs, and 5 percent of twins and siblings of studying students will get admission in reserved seats.

Moreover, 5 percent seats are reserved for the children of government officials who have been transferred from far away. Besides, the children of government high school teachers and employees will also get the opportunity to get admission in that institution with quota facilities.
