About two lakh taka was stolen from 8 passport holders from Benapole Checkpost International Passenger Terminal area. However, the local BGB, Port and Market Committee recovered Tk 13,000 of the two from a market lane next to Benapole Checkpost highway. The rest of the missing persons could not be rescued as the robbers ran away with the money.

Passengers with passports are often robbed at Benapole Checkpost International Passenger Terminal area.
It is known that Benapole check post is the main gateway to India. 5 to 7 thousand domestic and foreign passport holders travel on this route every day. After getting off the bus early in the morning, the robbers, who are known to deduct passport forms and travel tax from the bus terminal and passenger terminal of the port, put them in different lanes and grab large sums of money by sometimes threatening and sometimes by talking about money numbers. Although these incidents happened in front of various law enforcement officers, they avoided them due to their closeness.

A few local businessmen who did not wish to be named said that there are many places around the international passenger terminal where identity theft rings are active. Later it targeted passport holders from different parts of the country. After telling them about various opportunities, they are taking them to different market lanes and robbing them of money in different ways. Locals cannot protest because of the fear of these robbers. Because they are very heavy in the group. And these gangs are supported in various ways by some well-known journalists, people under the political umbrella and dishonest law enforcement agencies.

Sagar Hossain passport (A04117714) of Batia Ghat in Khulna, who was caught by a hijacker on his way to India via Benapole on Monday (September 2) morning, said that he was standing in line in front of the passenger terminal in the morning to go to India. A few people there told him that if he submitted the travel tax online, they would make it to immigration before the long line at the port. Later he was placed in a computer shop in a market lane next door.
After depositing the tax there, the robbers put them in the room next to the house telling them to write the number of the money. At one point, he took 52 thousand rupees with him and returned it again. Later, when he got suspicious, he counted and found that 23 thousand rupees had been removed from there. Later, when a complaint was made to the port authorities, 7,000 taka was recovered from the robbers with the help of the port and BGB members. Even though the members of the law and order forces roam around these institutions, they do not see anything.

In this regard, Deputy Director of Benapole Port Sajib Nazir said that the incident of money robbery of passport holders is sad. Sometimes the money is recovered to the pilgrims. More strictness will be imposed against them in the port area.

Benapole Portthana Police (OC) Suman Bhakta said that they have stopped and arrested the robbers' establishments many times. But they come back from jail and commit these crimes again. The police must have the cooperation of local businessmen, journalists and politicians to completely stop the robbery.
