Alexander Mantitsky, the Russian ambassador assigned to Bangladesh, said, "The issue of bribery of 5 billion dollars in the Rooppur nuclear power plant project is a complete lie and rumor."
He said these things in response to a question earlier in a meeting with the interim government's finance adviser Saleh Uddin Ahmed at the NEC conference room in the city's Sher Bangla Nagar on Sunday (August 25).
Bangladesh's ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina embezzled more than $5 billion (Taka 59,000 crore) from Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. His son Sajib Wazed Joy and niece Tulip Siddique assisted in this work.
Last Saturday (August 17) a report published by the Global Defense Corp revealed such sensational information.
When asked about this, the Russian ambassador said, "This rumor was created before the election." Are we so crazy to give 5 billion to someone? A project started and I gave 5 billion.
