Illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank have been accused of stealing livestock from Palestinian farmers. Recently released CCTV footage shows a group of Israeli settlers taking a flock of sheep from a farm in the dark of night. The incident has caused concern and anger among locals.
Samiha Rashid, a victim of the incident, said that she broke down when she saw the sheepfold empty in the morning. She said that her family's livelihood for the whole year depended on the income from selling sheep during the sacrificial season. Now they cannot afford to sacrifice themselves, and there is not even a single animal left to sell to earn money.
Local sources claim that the incident of stealing Palestinian livestock is not isolated; rather, such incidents are being carried out in a planned manner. This year alone, more than 4,000 cattle have been stolen from Palestinian farmers, causing more than $5 million in financial losses.
Meanwhile, there have been increasing reports of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. In addition to cattle theft, there have been reports of pepper spray being used on children and houses being set on fire. Observers believe that tensions and violence have increased in the region, especially since the start of the Gaza war.
