Ninety-five cattle were taken by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) from the Algar Char area of Jadurchar Union in Roumari Upazila, Kurigram. The incident occurred on Sunday (February 22) around 4:00 PM near the international boundary pillars 1071–72. Even after two days, the cattle have not been returned by the BSF.

According to local sources and the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB), a group of 10–15 people were grazing the cattle in the Algar Char border area when, inadvertently, the animals crossed into the no-man’s land and entered Indian territory. BSF personnel from the Kalaiyerchar camp then seized the cattle. The owners later informed local Union Parishad member Md. Forman Ali about the incident.

Upon learning of the situation, Balia Mari Company Commander Subedar Sharif Uddin was contacted. He said that he was not informed directly by the cattle owners but received information through the UP member. Attempts to contact the BSF in charge at the Kalaiyerchar camp via phone were made, but they denied the seizure and stated that they were investigating the matter.

Multiple attempts to reach Lt. Colonel Hasanur Jaman, commander of BGB’s Jamalpur-35 Battalion, were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls. Locally, there is concern and anxiety among the community, as the cattle owners are still waiting for the return of their animals.
