Israel is preparing for another attack after claiming the 12-day conflict with Iran last month as a 'success', international analysts believe. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent statements and strategic moves indicate that they are preparing for another round of devastating attacks on Iran. Although the ceasefire is still in effect, Iran and Western analysts have expressed concern that the situation could turn into war again. If diplomatic negotiations fail, the Middle East could face a new wave of instability and conflict.

The first phase of the war began with Israel's surprise attack last June, which killed more than 1,000 Iranians and 29 Israeli citizens. Israel claims that it took preemptive action as part of self-defense to destroy Iran's nuclear program. However, Iran has always said that its nuclear program is for peaceful civilian purposes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear in his post-war speech that they are ready to strike again if necessary. He said, “I have no intention of stopping pressing the gas pedal.” Netanyahu’s attitude indicates that the second phase of the conflict is not far off.

According to analysts, Israel has not only targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities. It has also targeted the country’s high-level military and political leadership. This suggests that Tel Aviv’s goal is not only to weaken Iran’s defenses, but also the country’s regime.

“Israel wants to turn Iran into a country like Syria or Lebanon—one that can be attacked at will, and there is little international reaction.”

If Israel wants to start a war again, it needs the consent of the United States - this is the opinion of many analysts. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already met with the foreign ministers of Germany, France and the UK on this issue. The meeting decided that if there is no new nuclear deal with Iran by August, the UN sanctions will be reimposed.

These sanctions were lifted as a result of the agreement signed with Iran in 2015. But in 2018, during the term of President Donald Trump, the United States withdrew from the agreement and reimposed strict sanctions. Now, if European countries also follow suit, Iran may also withdraw from the nuclear disarmament agreement. This will make it easier for Israel to establish the rationale for the attack.

An investigative report by the New York Times says that Israel has already begun covert operations in Iran. These operations, carried out by local agents and drones, are exploding oil refineries, flats, airports and factories. The report, citing three Western intelligence officials and a European diplomat, said that an Israeli covert network was behind the bombings.

Iran is also taking strong action against these operations. The country's parliament recently passed a law that would make espionage punishable by death and confiscate property. Iran analyst Ori Goldberg said, "Israel has built a well-organized intelligence network in Iran that wants to send a message by doing something if necessary."

On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said in an interview with Al Jazeera, "If Israel attacks again, we are fully prepared. Our army is capable of striking deep into Israel."

According to analyst Negar Mortazavi, "Iran knows that if there is a diplomatic agreement, Israel will lose the opportunity to attack. So they want a negotiated solution. But at the same time, they know that they cannot be unprepared a second time."

Political pressure is also growing inside Israel. Netanyahu's popularity is in question, especially because of the military operation in Gaza. However, there is a national consensus across the country on the Iran issue. Ori Goldberg said, "If Netanyahu feels that his political position is at stake, he can bring the people to his side by striking Iran."

Overall, although the situation has calmed down for the time being, the flames of war could start burning again at any time. The Middle East may be standing on the brink of another war.
