National film award winning director Riyazul Riju was injured in the clash during the students' agitation. He was standing with his friends near the Tangail Press Club on Sunday afternoon. Suddenly the police chased the students there. This time the film director was injured by bullets.
It is known that there were bullet wounds in four places on his body. Now treatment is going on at home.
Telling the incident to a national media, Riju said, "I do journalism as well as directing. That is why there are many journalist friends in Tangail. He was talking to them. Police were clashing with students a little distance away. I was getting a lot of words. Suddenly the students started running. At that time, the police shot and hit my body. Four shots were fired before I realized anything.
After being injured, Riju was first treated at Tangail hospital. Now she is being nursed at home.
Expressing solidarity with the students' movement, Riju further said, "I have supported the logical movement of the students from the beginning. But here the state system of the country is shooting at the innocent students. It cannot happen in a free country. I am with the students.
It is to be noted that in 2015, Riju got the country's highest national film award for his first movie. His first film 'Bapjaner Bioscope' won awards in eight categories.
