The members of RAB-01 Gazipur Porabari camp have arrested the accused Iqbal Hossain (38) who was sentenced to life in the case of absconding murder from Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur. He is the son of doctor Hasen Ali of Barmi village of Barmi union of Sripur upazila. He was arrested from Rajendrapur area of Sripur upazila at 6:30 pm on Tuesday (September 17). RAB Porabari Camp Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter at 10 pm.
RAB Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) Mahfuzur Rahman said that on August 6, the inmates rioted inside the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail and took the prison guards hostage. Meanwhile, Iqbal Hossain, who was sentenced to life in the murder case, broke the electrical pillar (GI pipe) and made a ladder and escaped by climbing over the boundary wall on the west side of the prison. His prisoner no-5465/A. In this incident, Lutfar Rahman of Kashimpur high security prison district filed a case at Konabari police station of GMP. RAB-1 took note of the case and started a shadow investigation. RAB's reliable sources and confidential sources have come to know that accused No. 91 of the case, Iqbal Hossain, a life-sentenced prisoner, is hiding in Rajendrapur area of Sripur Upazila of Gazipur. He was arrested on Tuesday evening after raiding Rajendrapur on such news. The arrested accused has been handed over to Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMPR) Konabari Police Station for further legal action.
