After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, three of the four Members of Parliament (MPs) of Faridpur are in hiding. It is known that only MP and business leader AK Azad who won Faridpur-3 (Sadar Upazila) as an independent is staying in the country. However, there is no trace of the remaining three MPs.

The three former MPs who went into hiding are Faridpur-1 (Boalmari, Alfadanga and Madukhali upazila) MP Abdur Rahman, Faridpur-2 (Nagarkanda and Saltha upazila) MP Shahdab Akbar Labu and Faridpur-4 (Bhanga, Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan) constituencies. Constituency MP Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon.
Abdur Rahman was the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock in the Sheikh Hasina government. He is also a member of the presidium of Awami League. Shahdab Akbar is the younger son of late Parliament Deputy Leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury. And Nixon is a member of the presidium of the Jubo League and the younger son of Sheikh Hasina's cousin.
Talking to the local leaders and activists of Awami League, it is known that no one knows where Abdur Rahman of Faridpur-1 is now. Even those close to him are unable to say anything about his whereabouts. Last Saturday (August 3) he came to his constituency Madhukhali. On that day, he participated in two party functions including a special extended meeting of the party in Madhukhali. Then he left for Dhaka in the afternoon. It is reported that his last location was in Dhaka till Sunday (August 4).
Shahdab Akbar Labu of Faridpur-2 came on a one-day visit to his constituency Nagarkanda last Friday (August 2). He participated in three political events in Nagarkanda from that morning. On that day at around seven in the evening, he led a torch march against the 'anarchy of BNP-Jamaat' with the leaders and activists from the office of Upazila Awami League located in Nagarkanda Bazar to various roads of Nagarkanda Bazar. Later, he returned to Dhanmondi's house in Dhaka at around eight o'clock in the night. He has not been seen in public since then.
Faridpur-4 Constituency Member of Parliament Mojibur Rahman Nixon visited Singapore early last month. From there, last Tuesday (July 24) around 1:30 PM, Hazrat Shahjalal came directly to his constituency Bhanga through the VIP lounge of the International Airport. Nixon Chowdhury, a resident of Dattapara village in Madaripur's Shibchar upazila, came to Bhanga in 2014 just 19 days before the parliamentary elections. There, as an independent candidate, he was elected as a member of parliament, defeating Awami League presidium member Kazi Zafarullah with the pineapple symbol.
Nixon mentioned Madaripure as his permanent address in his first election affidavit. After that, the resident of Bhangar changed his address by building a huge bungalow in Brahmanpara Mahalla of Bhangar. In the 2018 and 2024 elections, he was elected as an independent candidate after defeating the boat candidate Kazi Zafarullah with the lion and eagle bird symbols respectively.
Nixon last visited his constituency on July 31. The next day, August 1, he returned to Dhaka. Since then he is also in hiding.
However, among the four MPs of Faridpur's four parliamentary constituencies, AK Azad of Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency is an exception. He is currently in Dhaka. His communication with local leaders and activists is also normal. Last Tuesday night (August 6) went to the President to talk about the security of the garment industry and business sector at Bangabhaban.
