Assistant Tax Commissioner of Tax Region-25, Fatema Begum, has been facing departmental punishment for abusing a traffic sergeant in 'unspeakable language' when he asked her to see the vehicle documents. The information about her suspension was made public through a notification signed by Abdur Rahman Khan, Secretary of the CAR-1 Branch of the Internal Resources Department of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday.
The notification said that on April 12, around 8 pm, a car was stopped in the Palashi More area and asked to show the documents, in which Fatema Begum was present. At first, she told Traffic Sergeant Shaha Jamal that the vehicle documents were in order and she was unable to show them. Later, when she wanted to see the documents again, Fatima got out of the car and abused the traffic sergeant in ‘unspeakable language’—such as ‘child of a small person’, ‘child of a faggot’, ‘all his life he has been taking bribes’.
After the incident, Shaha Jamal filed a case with Lalbagh Police Station. Departmental action has been taken against Fatima for ‘misconduct’ as per Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
The notification further states that during the temporary suspension, she will receive food allowance as per the rules.
