Venomous pit viper caught in CU deposit hall!

Snake scares have become a daily occurrence in the residential halls of Chittagong University. Venomous and non-venomous snakes from various species of hilly areas are seen almost daily in various halls of the university. This time too was no exception.

Yesterday (Monday) night, a venomous pit viper snake was seen in a room of the university's deposit hall. Suddenly seeing the snake, the students started screaming in panic. Later, the students in the hall tried to catch the snake together and reported the incident to the university authorities.

According to the university's security branch, upon receiving the information, they quickly went to the spot and removed the snake safely. However, the incident has caused extreme fear and anger among the students.

A resident student of the deposit hall said, "Snakes are often seen at night. We are very scared. Staying in the hall is like spending your days in danger now."

Another student said, “Since the university is in a hilly area, snakes can come, but the administration should keep the surroundings of the hall clean and take effective measures to prevent snakes.”

According to the university proctor’s office, snake infestation increases every year during the rainy season. Regular monitoring and awareness programs are being conducted in this regard.

It is worth noting that earlier, various species of snakes including pit vipers, pythons, Kalachs, and red-throated pythons have been seen in the Shah Amanat Hall, Suhrawardy Hall, Shahjalal Hall, and the area adjacent to Gate No. 1 of Chittagong University. As a result, students are now spending their days in fear almost every day.
