Venues for the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup finalized, 12 stadiums in three countries to host the world stage

After a long 24 years, the International Cricket Council's (ICC) most prestigious tournament, the 'ODI Cricket World Cup', is going to be held on the African continent again. This fourteenth edition of 2027 will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. On Thursday, the ICC officially announced a total of 12 cricket stadiums in the three host countries as the venues for this mega tournament.
Eight cities in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe and the Namibian capital Windhoek were announced as the host cities for the World Cup at a grand ceremony in Johannesburg. The historic announcement was attended by former and current South African cricketers Graeme Smith, Makhaya Ntini, Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma and Kagiso Rabada. Zimbabwean Hamilton Masakadza and Namibian Rudolf Janssen van Vuuren also attended the event.
The announced venues include the Wanderers in Johannesburg, Centurions in Pretoria, Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead in Durban, St George's Park in Gebze, Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, Boland Park in Paarl and Buffalo Park in Kugompo City. On the other hand, the world stage matches will be held at the Harare Sports Club, Queens Sports Club and the newly built Victoria Falls Stadium in Zimbabwe, as well as the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek, Namibia.
The official theme of this year's World Cup has been set to be the African philosophy of 'Ubuntu', whose main spirit is humanity, mutual cooperation and unity. The ICC said that the exact venues where the opening match, semi-final and final matches will be held have not been announced yet. The schedule and specific venues will be finalized with the release of the full match schedule later.
