Heavy to very heavy rains continue in Chittagong. The Meteorological Department has recorded 65 mm rainfall from 6 am to 12 pm on Tuesday (August 20). Although it has been raining since 9 o'clock.
Chittagong Meteorological Office Forecast Officer Md. Ismail Bhuiyan told Dhaka Post that there is heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of active monsoon. Chittagong has received 76 mm of rain in the last 24 hours till 12 noon on Tuesday. 65 mm in 6 hours. There is a warning of heavy rain for the next 48 hours. Due to this there is danger of landslides in different areas. Chittagong sea port has been asked to display warning signal number 3.
Meanwhile, the rains have caused waterlogging in the low-lying areas of the city. Various roads in the low-lying areas are submerged in water up to the knees and in some places up to the waist. As a result, people who go out for daily needs have suffered greatly.

It has been found that Panchlaish, Katalganj, Chawkbazar, Muradpur, Sholakbehar, Gate No. 2, Baklia and Agrabad roads in various areas of the city have been submerged in water. Some roads in these areas have waist-deep water.
Pedestrian Adnan said that when it rains, water accumulates on the roads of Chittagong. Some roads cannot be traveled without a rickshaw. Because of this, the rickshaw fare also increases. Year after year this suffering does not end.
It is known that the government is implementing four major projects to solve the waterlogging of Chittagong. The government is spending 10 thousand 803 crores on these projects which have been started since 2014. Chittagong Development Authority (CHWAK), Chittagong City Corporation (CHASIC) and Water Development Board (PUBO) are implementing these projects. But when big projects were taken up, the suffering of city dwellers was not removed. The opposite is evident day by day.
