England will take on Andorra and Serbia in crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers on September 6 and 10. Tottenham Hotspur fullback Jade Spence has been called up to the England squad for the first time for these two matches. If he plays for the team, he will make history - he will represent the country as the first Muslim representative in the senior men's England team.
The 25-year-old Spence is proud and surprised to receive the call-up. Although he had never spoken to England coach Thomas Tuchel before, he was surprised by the news of being called up to the national team.
Jade Spence was born in London. Her mother is Kenyan, her father is Jamaican. Her older sister, Carla-Simone Spence, is a well-known actress. Spence, who came up through the academy of English Premier League club Fulham, made his professional football debut for Middlesbrough in 2018.
In 2021, he joined Nottingham Forest and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League. In 2022, he signed a five-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur for 2,000 pounds. In the same year, he was also called up to the England Under-21 team.
Initially given the opportunity to play as a substitute but not getting a place in the regular squad, Spence played for French club Rennes, English club Leeds United and Spanish club Genoa at various times. However, in August last year, he got the opportunity to play again for Tottenham. His excellent performance also earned him a place in the starting eleven.
Receiving the recognition of the best player of the month, scoring his first goal in the Premier League, contributing to the team's title in the Europa League final - all of this, Spence's career can be called like a roller coaster. After being called up to the national team, he is now facing history.
Fans can hope that the journey he has started with unyielding determination can take Spence to greater heights.
