The uncertainty and speculation surrounding the future of Lionel Scaloni as head coach of the Argentina national team are coming to an end. The World Cup-winning coach has agreed to a contract renewal with the Argentine Football Association (AFA), ensuring he will continue to lead the *Albiceleste* for the long term.

According to a report by the Argentine outlet *Superdepor*, the initial agreement will extend Scaloni’s tenure by two years—taking him through 2028—with a provision to extend the deal by another two years, reaching the 2030 World Cup.

During the recent international break, Scaloni met with AFA President Claudio Tapia. After reviewing his career path and future plans, he agreed to remain in his position. It is understood that both parties have reached an agreement on the terms of the contract, including financial compensation.

While the deal is finalized, the AFA has yet to make an official announcement. This is expected to be made public in the coming days or during the November international break. The world champions are set to play two friendly matches in the final window of the year: against Uruguay at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires on November 13, and against Costa Rica at the Mario Alberto Kempes Stadium in Córdoba on November 17.

Scaloni first took charge of Argentina on an interim basis in September 2018. Under his leadership, the team has since secured the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 Finalissima, the historic 2022 Qatar World Cup, and the 2024 Copa América title. This new agreement will mark a significant milestone, as it paves the way for Scaloni to complete a full decade at the helm of the national team.
