Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is set to play in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) for the first time. He has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play for the Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming season. BCB President Tamim Iqbal has expressed a positive stance regarding the issuance of the NOC.
Tamim shared this information on Monday (October 26) during the ‘D3’ draft for domestic cricket. He mentioned that, alongside Mustafizur, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has also requested an NOC to participate in the Big Bash. Tamim indicated a positive outlook toward granting NOCs to both players.
Mustafizur becomes the third Bangladeshi cricketer in the Big Bash
Shakib Al Hasan was the first Bangladeshi cricketer to play in the Big Bash League; he also represented the Melbourne Renegades. Subsequently, Rishad Hossain also represented Bangladesh in this Australian franchise tournament.
Rishad played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the previous season and is expected to feature for the same team in the upcoming edition. With the addition of Mustafizur, the number of Bangladeshi cricketers to have participated in the Big Bash will reach three.
The ‘Cutter Master’ to play for the Melbourne Renegades
Mustafizur is renowned for his signature cutters and varied bowling repertoire. The opportunity to play for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash will add a new experience to his career.
However, an official NOC from the BCB is required to participate in the Australian league. His participation will be finalized only after receiving formal approval from the board.
