Jamaat opens up on government rice controversy for madrasas

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has clarified its position on the recent discussion and controversy surrounding the government-allocated rice for some madrasas in Subarnachar and Ramgati areas of Lakshmipur. The party has claimed that a group is systematically trying to spread confusion by using the issue politically and spreading misinformation involving a specific person.
Mujahidul Ahmed, Ward 9 Secretary of Char Jabbar Union No. 1 in Subarnachar, Noakhali, made this comment in a written protest and statement on Saturday (May 16). He alleged that the information being spread about Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and locally, Ward 9 President and village doctor Abdus Samad, regarding the government rice allocation for some madrasas in Poragacha and Ramgati areas of Lakshmipur is baseless and motivated.
The statement said that the rice in question was procured following a completely legal process. It is claimed that the dealer concerned, Ali Azgar, who is the proprietor of Smart Bazaar Deli Shop, purchased the rice from various madrasas based on the necessary rules and documents. The names of the educational institutions mentioned include Shikshagram Darul Uloom Islamia Madrasa, Ashraful Uloom Islamia Noorani Madrasa and Ikhlas Noorani Qaumi Madrasa.
The Jamaat also said that all legal documents, receipts and necessary evidence related to the purchase and sale of rice have been preserved. But one party is trying to embroil Abdus Samad in controversy by presenting the incident differently for political and personal purposes. They claim that he has no direct or indirect involvement in the discussed transaction.
The statement called such propaganda 'propaganda' and said that targeting someone for political purposes despite not having personal responsibility is against democratic practices. At the same time, they strongly condemned and protested against such activities.
An impartial investigation by the administration has also been called for in this incident. Those concerned hope that through a transparent investigation, the real facts will come to light and confusion or rumors will end. They also claim that it is not possible to hide the truth for a long time through false information or propaganda.
