Tarique Rahman's election expenses in Dhaka-17 constituency are 2.3 million taka

In the 13th National Parliament election, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's election expenses in Dhaka-17 constituency were 2.3 million taka. This information was revealed from the expense return submitted to the Election Commission.
According to the return, about 5.5 million taka was spent on campaigning, 1.1 million taka on transportation, and 1.8 million taka on organizing public meetings. In addition, 3.6 million taka was spent on running the election camp.
The highest expenditure was on agents and other staff, where about 9.84 million taka was spent. In addition, 66 thousand taka was spent on housing and administrative sectors, and 50 thousand taka was shown on social media campaigns.
The total number of voters in Dhaka-17 constituency was 3.33 million taka. According to the law, a candidate can spend a maximum of 2.5 million taka or 10 taka per voter, whichever is higher.
According to the election rules, it is mandatory for the selected candidate to submit a detailed account of expenses to the Election Commission within 30 days of the publication of his name in the Gazette.
