State power cannot be given to those who oppose the liberation war—Mirza Fakhrul

BNP nominated candidate for Thakurgaon-1 constituency and party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Jamaat-e-Islami is making statements as if they will do everything for the country. But as a freedom fighter, he is not in favor of handing over state power to anti-liberation forces.
He made these remarks at a road meeting organized in Doluapara area of Akhnagar union of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Monday (February 2) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “I fought the liberation war in 1971. Those who opposed my liberation war at that time cannot be given the responsibility of the state. That is why we do not want to see Jamaat-e-Islami in state power.”
He said that Hindus and Muslims must work together for the development of Thakurgaon. Assure the Hindu community of their security concerns, he said, "We will provide you with protection. I, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, guarantee that there will be no negligence in your security." At this time, he urged people to vote for the paddy sheaf symbol for the sake of development.
Highlighting the future plans of BNP, he said that party chairperson Tarique Rahman, after returning to the country after a long stay abroad, has spoken about introducing a family card for the welfare of the common people. Through this card, people will get essential commodities, medical and educational services at low prices. A separate card will be arranged for farmers, so that they can buy fertilizers and seeds at fair prices.
He also said that a quality education system for children, improved medical services in hospitals and supply of medicines at low prices will be ensured.
If he wins the election, he also said that an airport and a medical college will be built in Thakurgaon, unemployment will be eliminated by creating employment and training will be arranged for women to earn money sitting at home.
