Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, met with the family of Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a potential independent MP candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency and convener of Inqilab Manch. The meeting was held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday morning.
During the meeting, Professor Yunus assured to ensure the best treatment for the bullet-injured Osman Hadi and promised to identify the entire gang involved in the attack and bring them to justice quickly.
Osman Hadi's brother Abu Bakar Siddique, sister Masuma and leaders of Inqilab Manch—Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, Fatima Tasnim Juma and Md. Borhan Uddin—were present during the meeting with the Chief Advisor.
During the meeting, the chief advisor said,
“The whole country is praying for Osman Hadi today. The government is making every effort to ensure his best treatment. If it is necessary to send him outside the country considering his physical condition, the government will arrange for treatment wherever it is necessary.”
Expressing deep concern over the attack, Professor Yunus said,
“This is a brutal attack. The entire gang involved in this will be identified and brought to justice. The law enforcement agencies are actively working to arrest the criminals as soon as possible. Instructions have already been given for a full investigation after analyzing the incident from start to finish.”
During the meeting, Osman Hadi’s sister Masuma said in an emotional voice,
“Hadi loved the country from his childhood. He was a born revolutionary. The poem ‘Bedrohi’ was his favorite. He loved to recite the poem. He has a 10-month-old child. Hadi is the backbone of our family.”
He also said,
“He has a lot of work left, he has to survive. You, the revolutionary government, have to keep the July revolutionaries alive at all costs. Otherwise, the independence and sovereignty of this country will be under threat.”
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inqilab Manch, strongly demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack, saying,
“Osman Hadi was a supporter of the July Revolution and worked day and night for the revolution. We know that the person who opened fire was arrested in a case earlier. It is also important to bring the process through which he got bail under investigation.”
Fatima Tasnim Juma, another leader of the Inqilab Manch, urged the government to ensure the overall security of the July fighters.
The chief advisor was also present at the time, including Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul, Environment, Forest and Climate Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Industry Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, and National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman.
It is worth noting that Sharif Osman bin Hadi was seriously injured in a shooting by miscreants while returning from an election campaign in the capital's Bijoynagar area on Friday. He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU at a private hospital in the capital.
