BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country in a few weeks, said AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the party's standing committee. He gave this information while paying tribute by placing flowers in front of the grave of late President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Thursday (September 25).
Zahid Hossain said, "The acting chairman of the nationalist party will not only lead the BNP, but will also be the leader of all those who were involved in the movement to restore democracy." He added, "In a few weeks, Tarique Rahman will come and lead not only the BNP's electoral process, but also the final stage of restoring democracy."
At the same time, he also accused BNP leaders of low-class behavior. Zahid Hossain said, “The way Awami League workers harassed political leaders including the BNP Secretary General, who was accompanying the Chief Advisor in New York, cannot be accepted. The history of this party has never been in favor of the people. They believe in the politics of revenge and the politics of imposing on the people.”
He also gave details about the election process. Zahid Hossain said, “Our election preparations have started 18 months ago. The number of those hoping for nomination is almost 10 times more than the number of seats. Therefore, the candidates will be determined based on the love of local leaders, district leaders and the people.”
Thus, the optimistic leadership of BNP has confirmed that the party’s central role in the preparations for the next election and the democratic movement will be stronger.
