Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is working tirelessly for the reconstruction of Bangladesh, said the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He said, "Tarique Rahman is trying to rebuild Bangladesh."
He said these things at the inauguration of Graffiti Arts organized by the Jubo Dal in front of the National Museum on Monday (July 28).
Fakhrul said, "The whole of Bangladesh came out in the movement. 79 Jubo Dal members were martyred in the mass movement in July, 142 Chhatra Dal members lost their lives. We have to acknowledge these contributions. We have to call white white and black black."
He further said, “This movement was not the sole responsibility of any party or student organization. Everyone from children to the elderly took to the streets. It was this universal participation that made the fall of the dictatorship possible.”
The BNP Secretary General criticized the government and said, “When extortion occurs among the workers of the anti-discrimination movement, the question arises – is this what we wanted? If there is such a rapid deviation from the ideals, what is the future?”
He lamented, “The whole of Bangladesh is now looking to the youth. But we cannot say loudly that this country will be rebuilt. Such a situation is being created in the country that new opportunities are being given to fascists.”
Questioning Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s rule, Fakhrul said, “I can’t see anything about Hasina’s trial, it’s been a year. Why haven’t those who killed people in public been arrested?”
He further said, “BNP is providing all-out cooperation on the reform issue. But no real progress is being seen from the government side. Various pressures are being created to put us in trouble, but the people of the country know how to fight.”
According to Mirza Fakhrul, this fight is being led by Tarique Rahman, who is trying to rebuild Bangladesh.
