Voting for the 13th National Assembly and Referendum began simultaneously across the country from 7:30 am on Thursday. The presence of voters can be seen at various centers across the country before the scheduled time. Voters of all ages, including men and women, have been waiting in line since morning to vote.

Voting is being held in 299 out of a total of 300 seats today. Voting has been postponed in Sherpur-3 constituency due to the death of a candidate.

According to information sent by representatives from various areas including the capital, voters arrived and took their positions before the centers opened. In some places, long queues formed in front of the main gate. The officials in charge completed the formalities including preparing ballot papers, seals and polling stations before the start of voting and started voting at the scheduled time.

Voting will continue until 4:30 pm. However, the concerned officials said that the votes of the voters standing in line within the scheduled time will be accepted.

More than 127.7 million voters are getting the opportunity to participate in the elections held after the July mass uprising. 50 political parties registered with the Election Commission are participating. The total number of candidates is 2,028, of which 273 are independent candidates.

A referendum is also being held today along with the national parliament elections. Voters are casting their votes for or against several fundamental changes to the constitution by voting 'yes' or 'no'. Those concerned say that the results of this vote could have a significant impact on the country's political structure and governance.

Members of various law enforcement agencies, including the armed forces, are deployed inside and outside the center to ensure security. Patrols have been strengthened in the constituency. Mobile courts led by magistrates are also on duty to avoid any untoward incidents.

The Election Commission said that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure fair and impartial voting. Presiding officers, assistant presiding officers and polling officers are on duty at each center. Observers are also on the ground.

The countrymen as well as the international community are watching this competitive election, which is being held after a long time. The major challenge for those involved in the election is to ensure that the voting and counting process is carried out smoothly.
