There have been allegations of creating confusion by spreading a photo of an election festoon on social media centered on the accused in the child murder case in the capital's Pallabi.
The viral photo claims that accused Sohel Rana participated in the election campaign of State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque in the last parliamentary elections. However, verification has shown that the circulated photo is edited and not real.
The photo was spread from various Facebook pages and accounts surrounding the incident, which later sparked widespread discussion and criticism.
Investigation and verification further revealed that the photo was altered using digital technology and no evidence of the presence of such a person in the original campaign festoon was found.
Those concerned in this regard say that confusion is being created in the public mind by spreading false information and edited photos with political motives.
