International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has called on the media to refrain from broadcasting 'hate speech' of Sheikh Hasina, the main accused in crimes against humanity. He said that despite the tribunal's ban, some media outlets are broadcasting these statements.
While talking to reporters in front of the tribunal on Wednesday, he said, "Sheikh Hasina is threatening and intimidating witnesses while staying in India. These statements are being made to obstruct the trial."
He also said, "The tribunal has instructions that Sheikh Hasina's 'hate speech' cannot be broadcast. However, we have noticed that some media outlets are still broadcasting them. We will request the media outlets to stop broadcasting such statements. If they are not stopped, we will consider taking appropriate action."
He also mentioned that the tribunal recently rejected the plea of former army officer and former NTMC Director General Ziaul Ahsan, who was accused in a case of crimes against humanity. The case was filed on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August.
