A talented educationist Dr. Hafiz, who was teaching as an assistant professor at a Turkish university, has returned home in response to the call of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh. His name has already been discussed as a possible candidate in the upcoming national elections from Gazipur-6 constituency.
Dr. Hafiz has been associated with academics and research in Turkey for a long time. After completing his master's degree from the Department of International Relations of Dhaka University, he went to the country for higher education on a scholarship from the Turkish government. Later, he joined Tokat Gazipasha University in Turkey as an assistant professor and has been teaching there for a long time.
In addition to his academic life, he was active in various activities of the Bangladeshi diaspora community in Turkey and was also serving as the 'President of Turkey Jamaat' recently. Political analysts believe that Dr. Hafiz's return to the country will add a new dimension to the future politics of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh.
Dr. Hafiz is also known to the readers as the author of the popular book titled ‘Erdogan: The Change Maker’. His book is written on the leadership qualities and transformational politics of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which was widely discussed by the readers in Bangladesh as well.
Jamaat-related sources said that Dr. Hafiz was called to return to the country a few months ago, in view of which he returned home after being relieved of his university duties. The party leaders believe that a talented, modern and internationally experienced leadership like him will add new vitality to Jamaat’s politics.
A Jamaat leader’s post on a social media platform said,
“Congratulations Hafiz Bhai. InshaAllah, you will overturn the calculations of Gazipur-6 constituency.”
Meanwhile, several former leaders of the Chhatra Shibir also reacted on social media and wrote,
“The Chhatra Shibir has produced a group of talented leaders in the last few decades, the nation will gradually get its output, InshaAllah.”
Political analysts say that this young generation of academics returning to Turkey, as they join politics, could help boost Jamaat's image and acceptance.
