Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSAD) president and former minister Hasanul Haque Inu has been remanded for 7 days by the court in the case of the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud during the anti-discrimination movement of students and people in Newmarket area of ​​the capital.

On Tuesday (August 27) afternoon, he was brought to the court and requested to be remanded for 10 days for the sake of proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted his remand.

The Intelligence Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Inu from a house in Uttara on Monday (August 26) afternoon.

Businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead in front of Gate No. 1 of Newmarket at 5 pm on July 19. In this incident, a murder case was filed against 130 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former bridge minister Obaidul Quader. Abdur Rahman, the nephew and son-in-law of the deceased businessman, filed the case at the Newmarket police station on August 21.

It is mentioned in the statement of the case that on July 19, at 5 pm, a peaceful procession of anti-discrimination students was going on in front of Gate No. 1 of Newmarket. At that time, with the connivance and inciting speech of some of the accused and the direct instructions of the innocent people were shot at, Mahfuzur Rahman, Nasir Uddin, Shamim Usman, Md. Abu Musa, Mainuddin, Shahadat Hossain, Abir Hossain and many unarmed students and common passers-by were injured.

Abdul Wadud (45) was shot on the spot while returning home from his business establishment at Priyangan shopping center of Newmarket police station. After that he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
