Toronto's Bengali community personality Barrister Rijuan passes away

Barrister Rijuan Rahman, a popular personality of Bengali community in Toronto, Canada has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun). He breathed his last at the Princess Margaret Cancer Institute Hospital in Toronto on Saturday (September 14) at 2:30 PM local time in Canada. He was 45 years old.
He was suffering from incurable cancer for a long time. Barrister Rijuan Rahman MPP of Ontario Provincial Parliament from Scoreborough Southwest and husband of Deputy Leader of Official Opposition of Ontario Dolly Begum. At the time of his death, he left behind numerous benefactors including his wife and relatives. His death has cast a pall over the community.
A barrister practicing law in Canada, Rizwan was also active in mainstream politics. He served as the President of the Scarborough South West Riding Association of NDP, one of Canada's largest political parties.
A number of philanthropic projects are ongoing under his leadership to help the Bangladeshi community and new immigrants.
Rijuan Rahman's funeral will be held at Bad Johor Dentonia Park on Sunday (September 15) Canadian local time. His body will then be laid to rest at Toronto's Muslim Cemetery, 13076 Leslie Street, Richmond Hill.
