Narayanganj Awami League leader and former member of parliament Shamim Osman and his brother BKMEA president and former member of parliament Salim Osman family members' bank accounts have been seized. At the same time, the bank account information of the businesses owned by them and their family members has been requested.
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the financial intelligence department of Bangladesh Bank, has sent a letter containing instructions in this regard to the banks and financial institutions of the country. In the letter, the BFIU directed to seize the bank accounts of Shamim Osman, his wife Salma Osman and their children Imtinan Osman and Labiba Johar and provide their account details.
Another letter informed about seizure of bank accounts of Salim Osman and his family members. The BFIU has directed to seize the bank accounts of Salim Osman's wife Nasreen Osman and their children Ananya Sharmin, Farhana Sharmin and Rumana Sharmin and provide their account details.
It is said that if any account is maintained in the name of the said persons and their privately owned companies, the transactions of those accounts shall be suspended for 30 days under section 23 (1) (c) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012 and the use of any locker in their name shall be suspended for 30 days. Instructions are given to stop.

Apart from this, a murder case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Shamim Osman in connection with the murder of a bus driver's assistant named Johnny (17) in Kanchpur, Sonargaon, Narayanganj on Tuesday.
